Shrimp Wonton Soup

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb shrimp, finely chopped
  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 6 cups chicken or seafood broth
  • 2 slices ginger
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • Crispy fried shallots for topping
  • White pepper to taste
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Mix chopped shrimp with soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, and white pepper.
  2. Place 1 teaspoon filling in center of each wonton wrapper.
  3. Fold wrapper in half diagonally, then bring two corners together and press to seal.
  4. Bring broth to boil with ginger slices.
  5. Add wontons to boiling broth and cook until they float and are cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Ladle soup into bowls and top with crispy fried shallots and fresh scallions.
  7. Serve immediately while hot.

  • Keep wonton wrappers covered with a damp towel to prevent drying out
